The Red River Region of the Sports Car Club of America is based in Shreveport, Louisiana. It encompasses all of Louisiana north of Alexandria plus the first tier of counties in Texas, Arkansas, and Mississippi. Red River Region was first incorporated in 1956 and functioned until 1975, when it was disbanded. It reorganized in 1983, from what was then the Dixie Sports Car Club, and continues to function to this day with approximately 80 members. During its lifetime, it has been home to several National Autocross and Road Race champions.
Since there is not an active road course near Shreveport, the bulk of our members are involved in SCCA Solo II or Autocross competition. We generally run at least a dozen such events every year. However, we do have a small core group of road racers who regularly travel to College Station, Texas; Tulsa, Oklahoma; or Memphis, Tennessee to compete.
